Fixing What’s Not Broken

Accepting Life as It Is and trying to “not fixing”…
Sometimes, I catch myself thinking that everything needs to be better, more polished, or more “right.” Maybe you’ve felt the same way. Acting on this belief, we often touch perfectly fine things and try to change their natural state. But here’s the question: Why do we try to fix something that isn’t broken?

Is There Really a Problem to Fixing?

Let me give you a personal example: Sometimes, I feel the need to adjust a vase on the table just because it’s not perfectly centered. Or when something I planned isn’t going the way I imagined, I feel the urge to intervene immediately. But what if there’s nothing wrong? What if these are just parts of life’s natural flow?

Asking myself this question made me realize that most of the time, my urge to “fix” something doesn’t stem from a real need but from an inner restlessness.

Life Is Not a Fix-It Project

I live with MS, and that’s a fact of my life. But it doesn’t make me “broken.” Living with MS isn’t about fixing a problem; it’s about learning and adapting to ensure my journey remains balanced. Working with my doctor and maintaining healthy habits are parts of this process. With each step, I learn, observe, and move forward with life.

In the same way, many things in our lives aren’t broken. They’re just opportunities for growth and learning. When a plan doesn’t go the way I expected or something unexpected happens, I now ask myself: “Is this really a problem, or is it just my perception?”

Letting Go of Control and Embracing Adaptation and not Fixing

Accepting life as it is often requires letting go of control. In moments when things don’t go as planned, trusting the flow of life brings immense freedom. The beauty of life isn’t in perfection; it lies in the experiences it offers through change.

I remind myself of these questions often:

  • Is this truly something that needs fixing?
  • Or is it just my perception?
  • Is it possible to adapt to this situation instead?

Moving with the Flow of Life

When I stop trying to fix life and instead adapt to its natural flow, I find myself treating both myself and those around me with more kindness. It gives me a sense of inner peace and teaches me to respect everything around me.

Remember, life isn’t a fix-it project; it’s a journey of observation and adaptation. Sometimes, leaving things as they are can create the greatest transformation.
